Smile Makeover Prices
Dr Nikhil Sharma takes a makeover apart piece by piece, puts prices on some typical plans and shows where the money actually goes.
How Much Should I Budget for a Smile Makeover in Broughty Ferry?
A smile makeover has no fixed price tag, because it is a combination of treatments and you only pay for those that appear in your plan. Here in Broughty Ferry, whitening with composite bonding on six teeth comes to £2,350, Invisalign Lite followed by the same bonding is £5,850, and aligners followed by eight porcelain veneers begin at £8,060. The design and trial smile carry no separate charge, and your total is confirmed in writing before treatment begins.
Why No Two Makeovers Cost the Same
A makeover is better understood as a plan than as a product. One person whose teeth are mildly crooked and yellowing might need aligners, whitening and a touch of bonding. Another, with straight front teeth that are worn down and full of old fillings, might need porcelain veneers and nothing else. Both count as makeovers, yet the bills can differ by thousands of pounds.
So the only honest pricing method is to total the individual parts. Dr Sharma designs the finished smile first, from photographs and a 3D scan, and then works back to the smallest amount of treatment that will achieve it. The cosmetic work is his, and where a missing tooth calls for an implant, our implant dentist plans and places it to the same design, so the whole plan stays joined up.

Example Plans, with Guide Fees
| Plan | Guide fee |
|---|---|
| Home whitening and bonding over a pair of chipped edges | £1,140 |
| Six-tooth bonding package with whitening | £2,350 |
| Ten-tooth bonding package with whitening | £3,950 |
| Invisalign Lite, then the six-tooth bonding package | £5,850 |
| Whitening, then porcelain veneers on six teeth | From £4,520 |
| Invisalign, then porcelain veneers on eight teeth | From £8,060 |
| Ten porcelain veneers | From £6,950 |
| A single implant to replace a missing tooth, plus six-tooth bonding | From £4,955 |
Each of these is taken directly from our current price list and is a guide figure. 1 Which Invisalign package applies depends on how far the teeth need to move, and the figures for veneers and implants are starting points. Where an implant features, planning requires a CT scan (£160) on top. Your personal total is confirmed after your consultation.
What Pushes the Cost Up or Down
- How many teeth. Because bonding and veneers carry a per-tooth price, treating six rather than ten is the single biggest lever. A broad smile reveals more teeth.
- Composite versus porcelain. Composite is cheaper today and preserves more tooth; porcelain costs more up front and lasts longer.
- Straightening beforehand. Aligners add to the total, but they frequently reduce how many veneers you need, or how much each tooth must be shaped.
- Preparation. Decay, gum disease and failing old crowns are sorted first, at our standard fees.
- Gaps. A missing tooth is designed in from the outset, normally with an implant.
- Gum line. Should gum contouring be part of the design, it is itemised separately in your plan.
The Right Order Costs Less
The sequence hardly ever changes: straighten first, whiten second, then add bonding or veneers. Teeth that have been moved into position need less material placed on them afterwards, and occasionally none at all. Whitening comes next, since composite and porcelain are matched to your shade on the day they are made and will not lighten later. Whiten after bonding and you end up with bonding stuck at the old colour while the teeth around it get brighter.
Doing things out of sequence is how people pay twice: veneers fitted across crowded teeth that need replacing after the teeth are eventually straightened, or bonding matched to teeth that were never whitened and therefore needs replacing. One agreed design, with the sequence set down in writing, stops that happening. Our guide to whitening before bonding covers the colour side of this.
Look Before You Commit
Set aside around ninety minutes for the design visit. We photograph and film your smile, scan your teeth on the iTero Lumina, and build the new smile onto pictures of your own face. A trial version in a temporary material is then placed over your teeth, with no drilling involved, so you can look at it, speak with it and photograph it. Should it look too long, too bright or too uniform, it is the design that gets changed, not your teeth.
You leave with a written plan setting out the sequence, the timing and a fixed fee. There is no charge for the consultation, which is booked with a £40 deposit, returned within seven days of your attending. If you need to cancel or rearrange, let us know at least 48 hours ahead. The deposit is only kept if you miss the appointment without telling us. What the mock-up can and cannot show you is explained in the trial smile guide.
How Long It All Takes
A whitening and bonding makeover can be complete within a few weeks: home whitening for two to three weeks, a brief pause for the shade to settle, then a single extended bonding visit. Porcelain veneers need three to four weeks between design and fitting. Plans that open with Invisalign generally take several months before the cosmetic stage starts, and an implant must integrate before it can carry its crown. Your written plan gives you the timetable from day one, so you can plan around a wedding or a trip away.
