A Denture Shaped Around Your Mouth
A small partial denture at our Brook Street practice starts at £565 and a complete set at £695. Most take three to five appointments spread over a few weeks. 1 A dental laboratory builds each one from records of your mouth, and we then fine-tune it here until it sits comfortably.
An immediate denture is £495 and cobalt chrome starts at £1,200, with 10% off for plan members. 1 You can also have dentures on the NHS. Children and adults are registered and treated on the NHS, with every dentist at the practice, and private care is there if you'd rather.
Types of Denture
The right one for you comes down to how many teeth remain, where the spaces are, and what you want to spend.
Full Denture
Replaces every tooth in the upper or lower jaw. The teeth are set up in wax first, so you can check the shape, colour and smile before anything is finalised.
Acrylic Partial
One or more teeth carried on a pink plastic base. Fast to produce, easy to add teeth to down the line, and the cheapest way to replace several teeth.
Cobalt Chrome Partial
The teeth sit on a slim metal framework. It covers less of the roof of your mouth, weighs less and holds more securely than acrylic, at a higher price.
Immediate Denture
Prepared beforehand and fitted the moment the teeth come out, so you're never left with a gap. As the gums heal and shrink it will need a reline.
Implant-Retained Denture
Snaps onto two or more implants, the standard answer for a lower denture that lifts and drifts. How it works
Repairs, Additions and Relines
Mending a fracture, adding a tooth when another is lost, or refitting the underside to gums that have changed shape.
How Many Visits
Allow three to six weeks between the first appointment and the fitting.
Examination and Planning
We check your gums, whatever teeth remain and the way your jaws come together, and ask what matters most to you in a denture. If you have an old one, bring it along.
Impressions and Decisions
We take moulds for the laboratory and pick the tooth colour and shape together.
Trying It in Wax
With full and larger partial dentures the teeth come back set in wax. You can check the mirror, try talking, and ask for alterations while they're still simple to do.
Fitting and Follow-Up
We fit the completed denture, then see you a week or two later to relieve any spots that rub.
Getting Used to It
It will feel big in your mouth to begin with. Your tongue and cheeks soon learn to steady it, and within about a month most people forget it's there.
Denture or Implants?
A well-made denture serves many people perfectly well. When it doesn't, implants can either anchor it firmly or replace it altogether with fixed teeth. Dr Sharma plans implant options from a CT scan taken here on Brook Street.

Why a Denture Goes Loose
After teeth are lost, the ridge of gum and bone beneath a denture gradually shrinks, most quickly in the months straight after extractions. Because the denture itself doesn't change, it eventually starts to rock and rub.
A chairside reline (£110) builds up the fitting surface with new material so it grips the gums once more. Dentures also generally need renewing every five to ten years or so, because the teeth gradually wear flat and the bite closes down, which can age the face.
Should another natural tooth be lost, a tooth can usually be added to an acrylic partial (£105) instead of starting again.

What Dentures Cost
The fee is confirmed in your written plan before the laboratory starts work, and plan members save 10%. Fees checked October 2026. 1
If you're registered with us on the NHS, dentures come under the standard NHS charges, capped at £384 per course of treatment unless you're exempt. Going private opens up a wider choice of materials and tooth designs.
