Dental Second Opinion, Broughty Ferry
Any Plan, Any Quote: A Second Opinion at No Charge
At our practice on Brook Street a second opinion is free, whether the plan or quote came from a dentist in Dundee, elsewhere in Scotland or abroad. Bring the paperwork and X-rays if you have them, or just bring yourself. We will tell you honestly what we would do, what it would cost, and whether it needs doing at all.
There is no fee. We take a £40 deposit and refund it within 7 days of your appointment. Where only a CT scan can answer your question, the scan costs £160. Nothing obliges you to go further, and nobody will suggest you leave your own dentist.
The Questions We Hear Most
Almost every second opinion falls into one of these groups.
A Price That Feels Wrong, Either Way
A plan for implants, All-on-4, veneers or Invisalign from another practice, and whether both the treatment and the figure stack up.
Treatment Done Overseas
Veneers, crowns or implants fitted in Turkey or elsewhere that hurt, wobble or bear no resemblance to the pictures you were shown. We establish what is there and what can be saved.
"Implants Aren't an Option for You"
Not enough bone, gum disease in the past, diabetes, your age. Many of these can be worked around, and a CT scan here shows the true position.
Work That Has Never Felt Right
A crown that catches when you bite, bonding that keeps chipping, an implant that is sore. The fix is sometimes tiny, sometimes not.
A Diagnosis You Want Confirmed
Someone has said you need a root canal, an extraction or gum surgery, and you would like to be sure before you agree.
A Less Invasive Route?
Veneers have been proposed and you are wondering whether bonding, whitening or Invisalign might get there while preserving more natural tooth.
What Helps Us Help You
Turning up empty-handed is fine. Anything on this list simply sharpens the answer we can give.
What Happens at the Visit
You Explain the Background
What has been proposed, what is worrying you about it, and the outcome you would like.
We Take a Look
Teeth, gums and bite, with photographs, X-rays if they are needed, and a CT scan (£160) where the question is about bone or implants.
A Straight Answer
Whether we agree with the plan, what we would do differently and why, and what we would charge. If the first plan is a good one, we say so.
Something in Writing, If You Want It
Your options, a price for each and an idea of timing, to take home. There is no need to decide anything that day.
How We Approach It
A second opinion is useless unless it is honest. We will not criticise another dentist's work to win your custom; we simply describe what we see and what we would recommend. If your best move is to return to the practice that started the treatment, we will say that. If the sensible course is to wait and keep an eye on things, we will say that too.
The dentist you see is the one who would do the treatment. For implants and All-on-4, and for veneers, bonding and Invisalign, that is Dr Nikhil Sharma; for root canal treatment, crowns and extractions it is one of our other dentists. Every one of our fees is published, so you can line them up against any other quote.
Implant plans in particular bring people to us from Dundee, Angus and north-east Fife, often with two or three quotes in hand that disagree with each other.
