Private Dental Fees, Broughty Ferry
Our private fees for examinations, hygiene, routine treatment, cosmetic dentistry and implants, how they sit against local prices, and when paying monthly is the better deal.
What Does Private Dental Care Cost in Broughty Ferry?
Here in Broughty Ferry, a private new patient examination including X-rays costs £70, and a 30-minute appointment with the hygienist is £70, or £100 if you add Airflow. Looking at practices across Broughty Ferry, Dundee and Angus that publish their prices, a new patient exam generally falls between £40 and £100 and a hygiene visit between £60 and £95. If a monthly payment suits you better, our dental plans bundle examinations, X-rays and hygiene together from £24.10 monthly, and we put every treatment fee in writing before any work begins.
Examinations and Hygiene Appointments
| Appointment | Our fee | On a plan |
|---|---|---|
| New patient visit: full examination plus any X-rays required | £70 | Included |
| Routine examination thereafter | £70 | Included |
| Examination for a child attending privately | £38 | Included |
| One small X-ray | £10 | Included |
| 30-minute hygienist clean | £70; £100 including Airflow | Included, Airflow too |
| 60-minute deep clean | £130 | £117 |
| Emergency visit | £70 | Free |
Everything starts with the new patient examination. Your dentist checks the teeth, the gums, your bite and your mouth's soft tissues, takes any X-rays that are needed, and sets out your options in writing with a fee beside each one. 1 Hygiene appointments are with our hygienist. Airflow uses a fine spray of warm water, air and powder to lift plaque and staining, and is kinder to the teeth than a conventional polishing paste.
How We Compare with Other Local Practices
A good many practices in Broughty Ferry, Dundee and the Angus towns do not publish their private fees. Of those that do, the picture in autumn 2026 looks like this:
| Item | Typical local range | Ours |
|---|---|---|
| New patient exam | Roughly £40 to £75 | £70, including X-rays |
| Hygiene appointment | Roughly £45 to £79 | £70, or £100 including Airflow |
| Dental plan, monthly | Roughly £16 to £28 | £24.10 or £40.16 |
We sit towards the upper end of the local range for examinations and hygiene, and we would rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise. Bear in mind the figures are not always comparing like with like: a cheaper exam fee may exclude X-rays, a cheaper hygiene fee may buy a shorter appointment, and plans differ widely in their contents. Ours includes Airflow at every hygiene visit on the plan. Whenever you compare prices, check what is actually included.

Fillings, Crowns and Root Canal Treatment
| Treatment | Front teeth | Back teeth |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest white filling | £105 | £118 |
| Crown in ceramic, from | £750 | £675 |
| Root canal | £450 | £525 (premolar), £595 (molar) |
| Ceramic onlay (partial crown) | £750 | |
| Extraction | £125 routine; £450 surgical or wisdom tooth | |
The price of a filling rises with the number of surfaces it covers, so a small one costs less than a large one; our fees page lists each size. Root canal treatment on a molar is dearer than on a front tooth, simply because molars have more canals to find and clean out. Once a back tooth has been root-filled it becomes brittle, so we usually recommend protecting it with a crown or onlay afterwards, charged separately. Both crowns and onlays are produced from an iTero Lumina scan rather than a putty impression. Members of our plan receive 10% off all of the above.
Invisalign and Cosmetic Treatment
| Treatment | Our fee |
|---|---|
| Invisalign Express, the shortest option | £2,500 |
| Invisalign Comprehensive, for complete correction | £4,500 |
| Composite bonding, single tooth | £395 |
| Bonding package for 4 or 10 teeth, including whitening | £1,550 or £3,950 |
| Porcelain veneer, per tooth, from | £695 |
| Boutique home whitening, custom trays | £350 |
Bonding, veneers and Invisalign are planned and carried out by Dr Nikhil Sharma. The Invisalign fee covers refinements, Vivera retainers and whitening, while any bonding package of four or more teeth has whitening built in, so the figure quoted is the figure you pay. Consultations for bonding, veneers, Invisalign and smile makeovers are free of charge. A £40 deposit secures the appointment and is refunded within 7 days of you attending. Implants, Invisalign, bonding and veneers are excluded from the plan discount, although standalone whitening drops to £315 for plan members.
Dental Implants
| What you need | Our fee |
|---|---|
| A single missing tooth: implant and crown | From £2,605 |
| Fixed teeth for a whole jaw on implants, across four pathways | From £9,300 for each jaw |
| A denture held by implants | From £8,500 per jaw |
| Planning CT scan in 3D | £160 |
| Bone graft, where bone is lacking | £535 to £998 |
| IV sedation, per visit | £500 |
Our implant dentist plans each case from a CT scan taken on the practice's own scanner and uses MegaGen AnyRidge implants. Individual implants go in with the MegaGen R2 guided surgery system, working through a 3D-printed surgical guide. For a whole jaw, a custom guide forms part of the Premium Guided Zirconia pathway only; the four full-arch / All-on-4 pathways run from £9,300 to £14,950 per arch. The fee for a single implant includes the implant itself, the abutment that connects it to the crown, the crown, and your follow-up visits, and it is backed by a 5-year guarantee for non-smokers who attend hygiene visits every 3 months. Grafting, extractions and sedation are charged only where your case calls for them, although the Staged, Same-Day and Premium full-arch pathways already cover extractions and any routine grafting. For the full picture, read our implant cost guide.
What Drives the Differences in Price
- Time in the chair. A deep clean lasting an hour costs more than a 30-minute visit, and a molar root canal takes longer than a front tooth.
- Laboratory fees. A dental technician produces crowns, veneers and onlays from a digital scan, adding a lab cost that a filling never carries.
- Quantity. Fillings are charged per surface, bonding per tooth, and full-arch implants per jaw.
- Technology. A CT scanner on site, guided implant surgery and digital scanning are all expensive to run, as is the training behind them.
All the figures on this page are guide prices taken from our current fee list. 1 What you personally pay depends on what the examination finds, so it is written into a plan before treatment starts and stays fixed once you have agreed it. Should anything unforeseen crop up mid-treatment, we pause and discuss it with you before going further.
Paying per Visit or Joining a Plan?
For anyone who attends twice a year, a plan is usually the cheaper route. Plan A costs £24.10 a month and covers the year's examinations, small X-rays plus two Airflow hygiene visits, which would come to £360 at our standard fees, leaving you £70.80 better off. Plan B, at £40.16 a month, takes the hygiene visits up from two to four, worth £560 for a saving of £78.08, and is well suited to people with gum disease or implants.
Both plans also bring priority booking, emergency appointments at no charge, worldwide cover for dental emergencies, and a 10% discount on most private treatment (excluding implants, orthodontics and larger cosmetic work). Should you only come once a year, paying as you go will generally cost less; our membership guide works through the numbers for both situations.
What About the NHS?
Going private is not the only option. Children and adults are registered and treated on the NHS, with every dentist at the practice, and private care is there if you'd rather. In Scotland, NHS examinations cost nothing for anyone, under-26s pay nothing for treatment either, and everyone else pays 80% of the NHS fee, capped at £384 per course. Implants, Invisalign, veneers, bonding and whitening are private wherever you go, and plenty of people pair NHS examinations with private treatment for a single item. Our NHS or private guide shows how that works.
Questions
This guide is general information, not a diagnosis. A dentist needs to examine you to say what is right for your teeth.
